INSTALLATION INFORMATION

With proper installation and care wood products are guaranteed to provide years of outdoor living pleasure.

To achieve a trouble-free installation of wood products:
Consult local building codes prior to installation.
Familiarize yourself with installation instructions.
Ensure you have all the tools and materials needed- as listed in the instruction sheet.

Important Information
When working with wood products or any building materials, be sure to wear proper clothing and safety equipment.
For all wood products, standard woodworking tools may be used, as per applicable manufacturer’s instructions.
Scrap can be discarded with normal construction debris.
Decking has excellent slip resistance wet or dry.
Decking has a built-in hidden fastener system and is easy to install.
Stainless steel 316 clips

Fastening Guidelines
Use a minimum #8 x 2-1/2 high-quality coated, stainless steel screw or equivalant when srewing directly into the timber.
Pre-drilling is required in cold weather and when within 1-1/2" of the edge of the decking
Use a minimum #6 x 1" high-quality stainless steel screw or equivalant when srewing the clips directly into the timber.Pre-drilling may be required.

Do not use glue or caulk to fasten wood decking or to seal the joint between two planks and any other surface. This will inhibit the natural expansion and contraction of the planks and will impede the drainage of the deck also void all warranty.

Proper Ventilation Is Required
To reduce moisture build-up from beneath the deck there must be a minimum of 1/2" high unobstructed continuous airspace along three sides of the deck to allow for cross ventilation. This should be located just below the bottom of the deck joist.
In some limited applications, including decks built against an inside corner, additional ventilation will be required where the deck meets the building.
Failure to provide adequate ventilation may result in failure of the deck surface and will void the warranty.

Decking Installation Instructions

You can save construction time and costs by planning and budgeting for the necessary materials. You can choose your own base material  to suit your application and use general wood construction, woodworking machinery can be used for cutting, sawing, drilling, and so on.

1. When you install the WAMB decking, the underlying surfaces should be a firm hard base to affix the joist onto.           Recommend joist pitch between 35-40 cm but smaller spacing are also allowed. (450 centres)

2. Consider a 3 cm spacing on the edges when installing WAMB decking.
3. The first board is held on by using the "CLIPS"  (see clip details in product section) If pre-drilling is required, the hole should be smaller than the diameter of the screw diameter thus allowing the screw to grip sufficiantly.
4. Knock the decking gently using a rubber hammer during construction to make sure there is equal gaps. Install the "DOUBLE CLIPS" for in between the boards ( as shown in the detail above)and screw the clip in place.

5. Slide the next board into place, tap with a rubber hammer if required.( as shown in the deatil above) .

If you require the planks to be butted together, we recommend using a double joist and a 5mm gap ( as shown below)

6. The last plank on the edge can either be predrilled and screwed directly througth the plank or as shown below by screwing into the bottom lip/groove as shown. Pre drilling should be done, to prevent splitting. Alternativly if possible , cut one side off the double clips and use a screw to hold this half clip in place.
7. Use a suitable edge board to complete the deck. It is possible to cut down the existing decking board and router the edge to remove sharp edges and screw into place.

Storage and handling

Never dump wood materials when unloading.
Store on a flat surface and cover with non-translucent material.
When carrying wood planks, carry on edge for better support.
Refer to installation instructions for additional guidelines on each product.
Care and Handling Guidelines For Decking
To minimize scratches, nicks, cuts and grooves, and preserve the beauty of wood decking.
follow these guidelines:
Do not slide decks against each other when moving them. When moving lift the decks and set them down.
Do not slide tools or drag equipment across the top of the decking during construction.
Keep the surface of the decking free of construction waste.
Draging dirt and construction debris across the surface of the decking contributes to surface scratching.
